At Hawks Hill, the work is shaped by practice, discipline, and a respect for the long process of change.
Justin Coletti, L.Ac. and Lisa Decker, LMHC come from different professional traditions, but both are influenced by years of training, teaching, observation, and direct work with people under stress. Their approaches are distinct: Justin works through Chinese medicine, orthopedics, movement, and the body’s patterns of pain and recovery. Lisa works through counseling, nervous system regulation, story, meaning, values, and the emotional patterns that shape a person’s life.
Clients may work with either provider independently. For those receiving both acupuncture and mental health counseling, collaborative care may be available with written consent.

Meet your therapist
LISA DECKER, MA, LMHC
Education AND CREATIVE FOUNDATIONS:
Lisa Decker is a licensed mental health counselor offering therapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, panic disorder, depression, stress, burnout, grief, relationship strain, obsessive-compulsive disorder and life transitions. Lisa earned her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness from New York University. Her work is shaped by a deep respect for the individuality of each client’s story, along with an understanding of how temperament, lived experience, environment, and the nervous system influence how people think, feel, relate, and adapt to stress, pain, fear, and change. Before becoming a therapist, Lisa earned a B.S. in Art Education with a concentration in Printmaking from The College of Saint Rose and spent more than a decade as a entrepreneur in marketing, design, and business development. This background continues to inform her appreciation for narrative, identity, meaning-making, self-expression, and the ways people work to reclaim voice, choice, agency, and a deeper sense of ownership over their lives.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:
Lisa's professional background includes clinical work in New York City, where she has treated clients with complex cases, understood diverse client needs, and supported developing clinicians. Her experience includes treatment for trauma, anxiety, panic disorder, depression, emotional dysregulation, relational strain, grief, stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder, family systems, and major life transitions. Lived experience, education and clinical experience strengthened her ability to listen deeply, think critically, and respond with empathy, compassion, steadiness, as well as clinical discernment. In therapy, Lisa is especially attentive to each client's story, the patterns that have shaped them, the strengths that have helped them survive, and the places where change may be ready to begin.

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH:
Lisa’s style is warm, attentive, direct, and practical. She offers careful listening, psychoeducation, coping strategies, and gentle, beneficial challenging to maladaptive patterns when appropriate. Her work is responsive to the person in front of her rather than based on a rigid, one-size-fits-all formula. Her approach primarily draws from cognitive behavioral therapy with support, tools, and skills from dialectic behavioral therapy, neuroscience-informed therapy, somatic awareness, narrative therapy, mindfulness, wellness models, Choice Theory, and Stoic philosophy. Therapy may also include religious, spiritual, philosophical, or values-based exploration when it is meaningful to the client. Lisa believes therapy can support emotional release, nervous system regulation, self-honesty, narrative change, and the development of greater agency. Her work is not about removing all discomfort from life, but helping clients become more capable, regulated, and intentional in how they respond to the ebbs and flows of life.

MARTIAL ARTS AND EMBODIMENT:
As a martial artist at Hawks Hill, Lisa’s perspective is shaped by discipline, adaptability, mindfulness, self-control, boundaries, resilience, and nervous system regulation. Her training has deepened her understanding of how stress, fear, and emotional patterns can show up internally and externally for a person, especially under pressure. This embodied lens supports her work with clients navigating trauma exposure, stress, burnout, anxiety, panic, emotional regulation, and major life transitions. It also reinforces her belief that meaningful change often requires patience, active participation in one's life, practice, and the gradual development of new responses over time.

schedule a consultation for therapy
Therapy begins with fit. If you are interested in working with Lisa, you may request a consultation to discuss what you are looking for, whether her approach is appropriate for your needs, and what next steps may look like. Mental health counseling is scheduled separately from acupuncture through a secure therapy process. Consultation requests are reviewed with care, and ongoing therapy is offered when there is mutual fit, availability, and clinical appropriateness.
